Remaking the Baroness: A Saratoga 250 Project

Date: January 30, 2026
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Location: Library Building

Inspired by the upcoming Saratoga 250 anniversary, Librarian Caitlin sets out to bring history to life with a sewing project. Taking a cue from the Saratoga 250 augmented reality banner of Baroness von Riedesel that you may have seen in the library and around town, Caitlin will be making the Baroness’ dress in a series of public sewing demonstrations to show the detail and craftsmanship that went into clothing during the revolutionary period.

In this kickoff session, she’ll will be working in the library’s New & Popular area to cut out the pieces of the Baroness’ gown to prepare them for sewing. Stop by to watch the cutting and sewing process, learn about the project, ask historical clothing questions, or just sit back and observe. And stop in most future Friday mornings to watch the progression of the gown! No registration Required.
