The library offers a Reading Group Collection of items on its shelves. The Reading Group collection contains many of the books used in the library’s Reading Groups. Found here are also highly acclaimed items that would be great to be used in your reading groups, too!

Library-Sponsored Book Groups

A New Chapter

An ongoing reading group that meets on the third Friday of each month and reads fiction across all genres. This reading group was started as a collaboration between Healing Springs Recovery Center and Saratoga Springs Public Library to provide a space for people in recovery to meet and connect, but all are welcome to attend. Copies of each month’s book selection may be obtained in the Reading Group Choices collection or by placing holds from the online public catalog.

Better Off Read

Book discussion covering a variety of genres including some narrative nonfiction. We meet on the second Tuesday of the month at 11:00 in the Glasby Room or the Susman Room of the library. Copies of each selection may be placed on hold or borrowed through the library. Visit the Information Desk for assistance. Book Club is My Alibi

A book group for true crime enthusiasts. Meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of the month at 7pm. All are welcome.

Books and Tea

We typically meet on the third Thursday of every month in the Susman Room of the library at 3:30pm. You will also find this event listed on our Events Calendar, and posted on the Library programs board on the first floor of the library.

Copies of the selection for the month are available in advance, and are generally first distributed for borrowing at the previous month’s discussion. Over the years we have read and talked about a wide range of fiction and nonfiction. Come join us any time and share good conversations around books!

Forever Young

Forever Young is a book discussion group for adults who enjoy reading YA (Young Adult) novels. We meet on the third Tuesday of each month from 7-8pm. Join us!

Her Story

This book and conversation group will explore the various experiences of women over time and across the globe. Topics may include the following: Mental Health, Women in Business, Women Across the Globe, Motherhood, and more. Please see our Events Calendar for upcoming titles and topics. This series is in partnership with Wellspring Saratoga.

Poetry Café

Poetry Café offers a low-key, librarian-led poetry discussion each and every month. Many poems chosen for reading and discussion are award-winning, or of highly noted and respected authors and speakers. Join us!

Read Against the Machine

Read Against the Machine is an ongoing reading group that meets on the first Monday of each month and focuses on non-fiction titles that examine social issues of all types.

Read with Pride

Read with Pride is an ongoing reading group that meets the first Thursday of each month and reads fiction and nonfiction from the LGBTQ+ community. The Healing Pages

The Healing Pages, in partnership with Saratoga Hospice, aims to discuss books and topics related to the healing process. If you are healing from loss or grief and looking for a supportive environment, please join us. Copies of the books will be available for loan at the library in the Reading Group collection. The discussion will be held at Community Hospice’s Saratoga location.
