Notice: Elevator Upgrade Project

Sharing Options

In a long-awaited project, the library’s thirty-year-old elevator system will be replaced and upgraded, with work beginning in early July, and anticipated to last until mid-November.

During this period, there will be no elevator access to the library’s Lower Level or Second Floor. If you are in need of materials or services from these parts of the library, and are unable to use the stairs, library staff will be happy to assist you.

As a reminder, for everyone’s safety, strollers, wagons, etc., are not allowed on stairs, so we ask that you plan your visits accordingly. Stroller parking will be available on the First Floor.

We have rearranged and/or added services and collections on the First Floor, including making public computers and printing available, relocated daily newspapers and large print materials, and scheduled more programs in First Floor spaces.

Priority for first-floor computing and seating will be for those with mobility challenges.

While the elevator is out of service, the H. Dutcher Community Room will be unavailable for public booking. The Susman and Glasby Rooms, on the lower level, will be available for booking, however, please keep in mind that these spaces will only be accessible via the stairs, if that is a consideration for members of your group.

In order to provide First Floor program space, the Friends Coffee Shop has suspended most operations for the duration of the project. Coffee is still available for a suggested donation, in the “Coffee Nook” outside the Friends Book Shop, beginning about 9am, while supplies last.

We appreciate your patience while the work is ongoing!
