Library Employment: Building Maintenance Worker — Part-Time

- Repairs and maintains Library building, including heating/cooling, plumbing, and electrical systems—may involve light carpentry and masonry
- Patrols property for safety/cleanliness and to monitor patron behavior
- Performs general groundskeeping—mows lawns, removes snow, clears brush
- Performs housekeeping as needed—removes rubbish, cleans spills, refreshes restrooms
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES: Semi-skilled building and grounds maintenance and repair practices; use of hand and power tools and equipment; customer service and conflict resolution; communication; read and interpret plans, blueprints and mechanical drawings; physical condition in line with the demands of the position, which can involve long periods of standing, walking, bending, sitting, lifting heavy items, and communicating by phone and face-to-face
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college or university with an Associate’s Degree and ONE (1) YEAR of paid full-time experience in general building construction or maintenance work or a closely related field; OR graduation from a regionally accredited New York State registered trade and TWO (2) YEARS of full-time paid experience in general building construction or maintenance work or a closely related field; OR graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and THREE (3) YEARS of full-time paid experience in general building construction or maintenance work or a closely related field.
SCHEDULE: Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays 9a-4:30p—Occasional weekends and on-call/as needed
STARTING PAY RATE: $20.65/hour
