The Influenza Virus

Due to the recent concern over the flu season and the H1N1 virus making waves in the media, we have created this temporary page to help you learn more about the flu virus.

On the right you will find a fun little quiz, provided by the CDC to test how accurate your knowledge about the flu is. So, go ahead, test your "Flu I.Q."

Also, one of our subscription database providers, EBSCO, has made available a free resource for doctors, nurses, and the general public to learn about the H1N1 viris, as well as the regular influenza virus. The patient section provides "current, easy to understand articles written for non-medical professionals" so that you may get a better, scientific, fact-based understanding of the virus. To access this site, you'll want to visit http://www.ebscohost.com/flu.

Below is a heat map of the United States (also provided by the CDC which "allows users to see the most recent seasonal influenza activity map for the entire country as well as the activity levels from previous weeks in the current flu season."
