Rooms and Areas for Children


Story/activity Room
...where most children's programs are held including pre-school story times, after school programs for school-aged kids, parenting programs, etc. This room comfortably holds over 40 people.
Audio/visual area
...stocked with books-on tape, audio music cassettes, computer software on CD-ROM, and videos, and DVDs.The emphasis is on videos and DVDs that are not available through commercial stores.
Rainbow Room
...which is stocked with puzzles, puppets, toys, and animal figures providing lots of opportunities for dramatic play. There is also a collection of board books and picture books easily accessible on kid-sized bookcases.
Parent/teacher area
...with many of the original items purchased with funds from the NYS Developmental Disability Planning Council. Included in this area are books, audio tapes, videos, and magazines of interest to parents of challenged and gifted children. Many of these materials deal with inclusion/advocacy found only at this library. There are general interest parenting materials, such as books on toilet training and baby name books.
Large and extensive non-fiction area
...which numbers over 19,100 volumes. Foreign language materials, holiday books, biographies, and poetry books can be found in this area.
A computer area
...where computers with Internet access and educational software may be found. Wordprocessing is also available on all these computers. More information on the computers can be found in Computer Services.
